RODEO SCHOOL in Chandler, Arizona was one of the best experiences of my life. We went with just the clothes on our back, boots and cowboy hats. And like every good blogger, the video camera.

My chronicling of the journey was a Christmas gift to my husband Bronson, (nickname: “Cowboy”) who ever since meeting gay rodeo icon Sonny Koerner at the 2006 Los Angeles Gay Rodeo, has wanted to become a rodeo cowboy/athlete.

January 17th, 2008 was all about making Bronson’s dream come true.

I learned something about myself by documenting these last five days on video. I learned that I don’t always have to be the center of attention. I discovered a new satisfaction that came from letting Bronson bask in the spotlight. And that look on his face? That’s what sheer joy looks like. I wouldn’t trade that moment for anything.
