Rest In Peace, Heath Ledger

THE NEWS OF HEATH LEDGER’S DEATH just came to me via a text message from my friend Paul. I cannot stop the chills from running up my spine, and tears stream down my face as I write this. It’s not only because Heath’s death is such a fucked up ending to such a short life. It’s also because of his portrayal of Ennis Del Mar, the gay cowboy in love with Jack Twist in the film Brokeback Mountain, which touched millions, including myself and Bronson.
The personal significance of Heath’s death, for me, is amplified by his iconic portrait of this troubled cowboy, struggling to embrace his deepest self—but ultimately figuring it out too late.
Losing Jack Twist in the film was hard enough; losing Ennis Del Mar in Heath Ledger is almost too much for me to bear.
